Waste Ground
With the disused siding behind the viaduct, a patch of waste ground left when part of the goods depot closed lies untended and left to revert back to nature. An abandoned crane and a broken digger mired in the swamp are slowly being strangled by bramble creepers and other wild vegetation.
A crow calls to his mate from the top of the crane -
But his mate is distracted by a rumbling noise and ignores him.
Ahh! The Coal Wagon! Best be off!
A magpie watches those dratted kids from his lofty perch on the lamp post..
In the furthest flung corner the land is more fertile and the water cleaner so ferns and other plants are taking hold.
Black Headed Gulls take advantage of the overgrown wetlands to establish a territory while a kestrel hovers searching for little mice among the reeds.
Nature slowly reclaiming the land - regardless of anything which might be in the way!
